De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis Support

De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis is a painful condition affecting the tendons along the thumb side of the wrist (Abductor Pollicis Longus and Extensor Pollicis Longus).

Symptoms can include pain and swelling near the base of the thumb and difficulty moving and gripping whilst using your thumb and wrist. Since this is an overuse injury, repeated movements of the wrist and thumb will worsen the symptoms.

Orthotic management is very effective at reducing pain and reducing movement allowing the inflammation to subside.

Orthotic management must involve support of the thumb with varying levels of wrist immobilisation.

We can provide custom made and pre-fabricated devices depending on occupational requirements and anatomy.

To determine the most appropriate treatment for you, we recommend booking an initial consultation to discuss your concerns in more detail.
